If you start out as an affiliate, one of the first challenges you’ll wrestle with is choosing the right domain name. Buying a domain name is done in a few minutes, but it is a very important decision. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

Name your website after your domain

People will (hopefully) remember the title of your site and they are able to find your site again if your title and domain name are the same. For example: if people remember the name Just Us Boys, they will automatically asume the url would be http://www.justusboys.com

Have keywords in your domain name

The value of your domain name and/or title is extremely important to search engines. Try searching “uncut cock”  in Google and see how many top results have the words “uncut”  and “cock” in their domain name. Basicly, SEO (search engine optimization) starts with picking the right domain name.

Choose names that are easy to remember

Domain names can be of any length upto 256 characters, but noone is going to remember a name like http://www.hornystraightguysgettheirassesfuckedinexchangeforsomecoldhardcash.com because of the length of the domain name. You’d rather choose something like http://www.straightguysfucked.com which is short and easy to remember. Still the domain name clearly describes the subject of your site.

Try to go with a .com

The most common domain that people know of is .com and if they remember the title of your site, they will likely type in the title of your site followed by .com. However, if you can find a keyword rich domain name that isn’t a .com – you can still get a lot of search engine traffic. So, in some cases it can pay off to buy another TLD (top level domain) if the .com version isn’t available anymore.

Be creative with alternatives

If a .com domain name is taken, most domain registrars will provide you with alternative forms of that domain name. For example, if you want to register http://www.gaypornblog.com you will see the domain name is already taken. As an alternative you could go for a name like http://www.mygaypornblog.com or http://www.thegaypornblog.com or http://www.thebestgaypornblog.com ! Remember to brand your site with the full form of the name. Otherwise people forget about the additional words and you’ll be directing your traffic to someone else’s site.
