The World Wide Web was originally mostly a tool for the Western world and English speaking people. That’s been rapidly changing in recent years; English will soon no longer be the predominant primary language of Internet users and web page translation is becoming a increasingly important strategy in web site marketing.

While over 350 million people speak English as their first language and it’s estimated somewhere around the same have English as a second language (and to varying degrees of proficiency); given that the global Internet population is now over 1 billion and rapidly climbing in Non-English speaking regions; that’s a huge number of people and potential customers who may not be able to read your site. It’s interesting to note that as of the end of 2006; Asia had more Internet users than the USA!

Here’s something you might not have considered and perhaps a very important motivator for having your web site translated into different languages. If you translate a page into a different language; search engines see it as a totally separate page; so it’s another ticket in the search engine lottery. Your 20 page site translated into 7 languages suddenly becomes a 140 page site casting a net to a broader audience.

So, a multi language site will not only bring more visitors to your sites, but the number of pages that show up in the SERPs will increase as well.

If you start out as an affiliate, one of the first challenges you’ll wrestle with is choosing the right domain name. Buying a domain name is done in a few minutes, but it is a very important decision. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

Name your website after your domain

People will (hopefully) remember the title of your site and they are able to find your site again if your title and domain name are the same. For example: if people remember the name Just Us Boys, they will automatically asume the url would be http://www.justusboys.com

Have keywords in your domain name

The value of your domain name and/or title is extremely important to search engines. Try searching “uncut cock” in Google and see how many top results have the words “uncut” and “cock” in their domain name. Basicly, SEO (search engine optimization) starts with picking the right domain name.

Choose names that are easy to remember

Domain names can be of any length upto 256 characters, but noone is going to remember a name like http://www.hornystraightguysgettheirassesfuckedinexchangeforsomecoldhardcash.com because of the length of the domain name. You’d rather choose something like http://www.straightguysfucked.com which is short and easy to remember. Still the domain name clearly describes the subject of your site.

Try to go with a .com

The most common domain that people know of is .com and if they remember the title of your site, they will likely type in the title of your site followed by .com. However, if you can find a keyword rich domain name that isn’t a .com – you can still get a lot of search engine traffic. So, in some cases it can pay off to buy another TLD (top level domain) if the .com version isn’t available anymore.

Be creative with alternatives

If a .com domain name is taken, most domain registrars will provide you with alternative forms of that domain name. For example, if you want to register http://www.gaypornblog.com you will see the domain name is already taken. As an alternative you could go for a name like http://www.mygaypornblog.com or http://www.thegaypornblog.com or http://www.thebestgaypornblog.com ! Remember to brand your site with the full form of the name. Otherwise people forget about the additional words and you’ll be directing your traffic to someone else’s site.

Should you need any help choosing a domain name, please feel free to ask us for advice.

Only a small percentage of the newbies who have decided to start in the adult affiliate marketing will survive in this business. Here are the five most important things you have to realize in order to become succesful and to have the chance of making a living out of affiliate marketing.

1. Treat affiliate marketing like a business

Many newbies fail because they refuse to treat adult affiliate marketing like a business. Believe me, it is! Just like in any other business venture, you need to work for your money and you have to be serious about it. It’s good to write a business plan and set goals for yourself. Also, make sure you’ll get a daily routine.

2. You are not in porn

Unless you are actually playing a role in a porn movie, you are not in porn! Ok, your job is related to porn and you are a chain in the adult business, but your job as an affiliate can be best described as a marketing job. It’s your job to generate sales. Your ability to sell is what makes you succesful in this business.

3. There is no such thing as easy money

Many websites and forums make it seem like it is easy to earn money in the affiliate business. It’s not like throwing up a few links and become the next millionaire. The get-rich-quick days are long gone. You need to have patience and work hard. More important, you have to work smart! Original ideas make you and your sites stand out and that’s the key to succes. If you want to get rich without much effort, then it’s probably best to move on and try your luck in another industry. However, if you are serious, passionate and willing to invest time – it will pay off in the future! There is still a lot of money to be made, but it might be harder then you expect.

4. Learn from succesful affiliates

There is no other business in which others (your competition) share information as much and as often as in the adult affiliate business. There are many webmaster boards with lots of information. Read it and use it ! Fellow webmasters are often prepared to share a lot of their knowledge, so it’s important for you to get in touch with other people.

5. Know and understand what you’re selling

In order to sell, you got to understand the niche you are selling. For example, if you like Asians boys, you will probably be more succesful selling sites featuring Asian twinks rather than selling sites featuring hairy males. You don’t have to be really into the niche you are trying to sell, but at least understand the niche. Ask yourself questions like: what is it that make hairy males attractive to people. What’s the turn-on? What exactly is popular within a specific niche? The answers to these questions are your selling points. You got to know what makes a niche attractive to potential buyers.

Keep all of the above in mind constantly! Work hard and smart and you’ll succeed in the adult affiliate business.
